SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA- Oklahoma Baptist and Northwestern opened a three game series Friday evening. The Bison took game one with a final score of 8-0 as Kayleigh Jones pitched a complete game shutout with a no-hitter.
Northwestern falls to 8-6 on the season with a 2-2 conference record.
The Bison shut the Rangers down in the first inning before striking first in their half of the inning on a 2-Run blast to right center by Ryan. Oklahoma Baptist took an early 2-0 lead over the Rangers.
In the second inning the Bison loaded the bases having three of their first hitters reach but the Rangers escaped any trouble keeping the game at 2-0.
Oklahoma Baptist was able to extend their lead in the third inning with two more runs, one coming on a Clark double but a Campos single brought the game to 4-0 after three innings of play.
The Bison offense struck for four more runs in the fourth inning as a single and a walk out two runners on before an RBI single by Max brought it to 5-0. With the bases loaded a hit batter followed by a walk brought the game to 8-0.
Hannah Howell drew a walk in the fifth but was unable to come around to score as Oklahoma Baptist sealed the five inning 8-0 win.
Northwestern will be back in action on Saturday afternoon to close the series with a doubleheader starting at Noon with the second game to follow.
