Rangers Men's Track and Field Complete First Outdoor Meet Since 1996

TEXAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Track and Field competed in their first meet since 1996 for the outdoor season. The Rangers were competing in the Charles Austin Classic hosted by Texas State. 

"It's a blessing  to bring a historic Men's track and field  program back to our university. We want to give thanks to our whole Northwestern community, faculty and staff, along with the city of Alva for the support through this process. Our guys had the opportunity to do what they love, but also compete among top athletes  D1 and Olympians. We will continue to improve." Coach Derrick Young Stated

The first event was the 100M as the Rangers had five runners place inside the top 30 of the meet as Trevor Montayne led the way with a final time of 10.84 placing fourth overall. Derek Cocheran was second  for the Rangers placing 25th overall with a time of 11.54. Daniel Oats placed 26th overall followed by Jace Dunn in 27th, and Julian Jackson in 28th. 

Next was the hurdles where the Rangers had two top 15 finishers as Jayden Geathers placed 10th overall with a time of 15.62. Isai Aguilar placed 14th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.89. 

The men's 200M event was led by Montayne with a time of 21.35 placing third overall in the event. He is currently ranked 27th in America division II and the 5th fastest freshman in the country.  He was one of eight to have  PR in the event and one of nine in the top 30 of the event. Kyler Moore was second for the Rangers placing 15th overall with a time of 22.41. Derrick Taylor was 19th overall with a time of 22.64 followed by Wesley Hall in 22nd with a time of 22.78. Michael Byers was 23rd overall followed by Jaron Burks, Derek Cocheran, Tommy Desir and Connor Miers

The 400M event was run by Isai Aguilar and Terrence Marfo. Aguilar placed 18th overall in the event with a time of 52.53, followed by Marfo in 19th overall with a time of 54.13. Jayden Geathers placed third in the 400M hurdles with a time of 58.15.

Christian Franklin led the way in the 800M event running a 1:56.03 placing sixth overall as one of two top 10 finishers for the Rangers in the event joined by Brandon Adolphus in tenth running a 1:58.41.

Benjamin Morfin took first overall in the 1500m event running a 4:06.90 as one of three top 10 finishers joined by Crispus Atukwatse in 5th with a time of 4:09.70 followed by Alan Lares in 10th with a time of 4:15.07.

The 5000M featured more success for the Rangers with three top 10 finishers led by Salat Ibrahim placing sixth in the event with a time of 15:50.70 followed by Edward Robledo Gonzalez finishing in 8th with a time of 16:15.05 followed by Aaron Medrano at 10th. 

Isai Aguilar led the way in the discus throw placing ninth overall with a mark of 29.50M on his best throw. Connor Miers finished in the top 10 as well placing tenth. Aguilar also led the Rangers in the long jump with a 12 place finish with a mark of 6.18m

The 4x100 set the new school record which included Moore, Bogdan, Taylor, Montayne finishing with a 42.08 placing sixth. The 4x400 team also set a school record with a 3.22.26 placing fourth.
