Rangers Win Series Finale over Arkansas Monticello

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Baseball won the series finale over Arkansas Monticello. The Rangers used a six run first inning and a three home run game to pull off the victory over the Weevils.

The Rangers improved to 27-15 overall on the season with a 17-10 conference record following the victory.

Offensively Northwestern was led by Dylan Bradford and Hagen Barcello each with four hits in the game as Trevor Saire led the team in RBI's with four. The Rangers had four hitters with two runs batted in. Colby Mitchell picked up his fourth win of the season before Max McClain pitched the final 3.2 innings earning his first save.

Arkansas Monticello had a strong start to the game after a three run first inning for the Weevils pushed the visitors in front 3-0. After a single and walk started the game a three run home run gave the Weevils the lead.

In the bottom half of the inning though the Rangers answered back quickly. After Dylan Bradford led off with a single, Sachen later hit an RBI single for the Rangers first run. This was followed by a Saire single back up the middle to give the Rangers their first lead at 4-3. Chad Green followed with a 2-run home run for a 6-3 lead over the Weevils.

 Mitchell held the Weevils scoreless before the Rangers extended the lead in the bottom of the second inning as Wright singled and Barcello singled before a Trevor Saire three run home run to right field for a 9-3 lead through two innings of play.

Arkansas Monticello did not go away though, answering back with a lead off home run to start the inning, before Cripps then hit a 2-run home run and the Weevils were back within three. Arkansas Monticello added one more as the Rangers led 9-7.

The Weevils held the Rangers scoreless before adding one more in the fourth getting the game back within one. Sachen started the rally in the fourth with a lead off home run pushing the Rangers backup two. After two walks, Zach Vetal delivered a 2-RBI triple off the wall for a 12-8 Ranger lead through four innings.

The score stayed 12-8 into the sixth inning when Arkansas Monticello scored one run but the Rangers answered back with a two-run lead. The Rangers loaded the bases before Bradford delivered a 2-RBI single through the right side for a 14-9 lead. 

The Rangers added one more in the 8th inning as Hagen Barcello added an RBI single after two walks as Bradford came around to score for a 15-9 Ranger lead. Max McCalin closed out the game picking up his first save of the season after throwing 3.2 scoreless innings allowing one hit and retiring the side in order in the ninth.

The Rangers won the series finale over Arkansas Monticello 15-9. Northwestern will have a mid week game at Northeastern State before traveling to Magnolia for a three game series against Southern Arkansas.
