ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Former Northwestern Oklahoma State football player Dawson Marchant was selected in the the seventh round of this year's CFL football draft. Marchant was drafted by the BC Lions with the 62nd overall pick.
"I'm extremely excited and proud that former Ranger, Dawson Marchant was drafted in the 7th Round by the B. C. Lions of the Canadian Football League. Dawson is an outstanding young man and a very talented football player and I know he will represent NWOSU very well" stated head coach Ronnie Jones.
Marchant has spent the last two seasons with Ranger football where he has accumulated 60 total tackles with 43 solo tackles and 17 assisted tackles with two tackles for losses. He finished with five pass breakups with two in each season along with one interception and a block. He played in 21 games over the two seasons.
The CFL season for the Lions will begin on May 25th and run through October 19th with the final regular season game.Â
