ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's soccer battled Fort Hays State Saturday for the final non-conference match of the season before conference play on Wednesday. The Rangers lost 1-0 on a second half goal.
Northwestern drops to 2-3-1 on the season following the defeat.
The Rangers were led in shots by Isabella Mcmillan with three and had four players with one shot on goal. Rachel Brown finished with six saves.
The Rangers had three shots in the early part of the game including one on goal by Jordan Fawcett but Mackenzie Caldwell made the save keeping the game locked at 0-0. Fort Hays had an opportunity with back to back corner kicks but the Ranger defense kept the game scoreless. Rachel Brown then made two saves on a couple of Fort Hays Shots late in the first half keeping the tied score as the Rangers went into the halftime break tied 0-0 with Fort Hays State.
For Hays came out of the break looking to strike quick with a shot 16 seconds in but Brown was able to make the save on Taylor Hill's shot keeping the game scoreless.
It was the 58th minute of the match when Taylor Hill was able to find the back of the net off a free kick assisted by Montserrat Diaz. During the 70th minute of the match the Rangers had a couple shots from Isabell Mcmillan one on goal saved by Mackenzie Caldwell.
The Rangers had one more shot on goal by Lily Anderson in the 87th minute of the match but it was saved by Caldwell.
Fort Hays State won over the Rangers by a final of 1-0 on Saturday evening.
Northwestern will be home Wednesday for the conference opener of the season against Southern Nazarene at 7:00 PM.
