Rangers Tie in Season Opener Against the Wildcats

WAYNE, NEBRASKA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Soccer opened the season on Thursday afternoon against Wayne State Wildcats. The season opener ended in a 0-0 draw after Rachel Brown the Ranger goalkeeper earned her sixth shutout of her Ranger career.

Northwestern and Wayne State both now have a season record of 0-0-1 following the tie.

Rachel Brown earned her first shutout of the season after finishing with nine saves in the afternoon stopping every attempt coming her way. Brown made her first save of the day at the 12:49 mark of the opening half, one of three first half saves.

Tiara Campbell looked to strike first for the Rangers but the Wildcats goalkeeper Sidney Truman made a save to the right to keep the game scoreless 0-0 right before the half. Northwestern was out shot in the first half 5-1 overall and 3-1 on goal.

In the second half Northwestern came out of the break aggressive with three shots including two on goal one each by Jordan Fawcett and Emerson Curd but were unable to convert as the Wildcat goalkeeper kept the ball out of the back of the net along with a Victoria Ruvalcaba's shot blocked as the game remained 0-0.

Isabella Mcmillan halfway through the second half looked to break the scoreless tie with a shot on goal one of her team leading three but Wayne State kept the game scoreless.

Brown's big save of the match came close to the final minutes at the 87:31 mark of the contest off a Ranger yellow card setting up a Wildcats free kick but Brown denied their chance to take the lead.

The Ranger offense in the second half finished with 10 shots in the half compared to Wayne State's eight, while the Wildcats led 6-4 with shots on goal.
