LAWTON, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Cross Country team was in Lawton, Oklahoma for the season opening meet. Northwestern placed fourth overall out of eight teams in the meet.
"Christian Franklin led the team for the guys for the opening meet. Christian broke the school record in the 8K. The men's team went out and competed hard. I believe that the guys packed up and ran really well today as a group. Franklin placed sixth overall earning a medal" stated Sterlin Broomfield head coach of the Men's Cross Country team.
Christian Franklin paced the Rangers with a sixth place finish earning a medal after running a 25:09.88 also setting the new school record for a meet. James Fincher was the next Ranger to finish placing 13th overall with a time of 26:16.98. Riley Hernden was the third Ranger to place in the top 20 of the meet after running a 27:07.53.
The next three Rangers placed in the top 30 of the meet as Edgar Reyes, Zachary Cox, and Alan Lares. Reyes placed 22nd in the meet with a time of 27:20.39 followed by Cox with a 24th place finish and a time of 27:22.29. Lares had a 29th place finish with a final time of 27:50.29.
Coy Bullard placed 35th in the meet with a final time of 28:09.53. He was followed by Edward Robeldo finishing 36th overall with a time of 28:15.85.
Aaron Medrano and Basheer Suid were the next two runners placing 40th and 43rd just ahead of Andrew Scott, Jordan Pierce, and Muneer Suid. Scott finished with a 28:40.78 in 44th followed by Pierce at 28:45.28 and Muneer Suid at 29:01.95.
Northwestern was then featured by Joseph Kollar and Tristan Meeker in 56 and 59th overall before Daxton Williams, Benjamin Morfin and Ray Chavira who finished 60-62 in that order.
Kayden Carter finished with a 37:11.71 followed by Zach Thomas with a 38:40.07 placing 65th and 69th overall in the meet.
Rangers will return to action on September 14th in Newton, Kansas for the Muthama-Rogers Invitational hosted by Bethel College.
