Small Hits Provisional Qualifying Mark, Woolery and Blackwell Set School Records at Owen Hewett Invite

NORMAN, OKLAHOMA - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Track & Field team competed in the second indoor meet of the season this one hosted by the University of Oklahoma. At the Owen Hewett Invitational at the Mosier Indoor Facility in Norman, Oklahoma.

Northwestern in the meet had one athlete hit the provisional qualifying mark in Kareem Small. The Rangers had three school records in the meet as well, from Kaleb Woolery, Devin Blackwell, and Kareem Small.

Small set the tone for the Rangers in a successful meet in the 60M placing second overall in the meet for the event with a time of 6.77 setting the Rangers' school record and meeting the qualifying mark putting him 18th in America. In the event as well Terrence Marfo set his new season best with a time of 7.34, along with Jonathan Conwell and Jayden Geathers setting new season best as well with times of 7.40 and 7.45.

Jayden Geathers found himself in the top 10 for the event of 60M hurdles as Geathers placed eighth in the event with a time of 8.52.

In the 200M split into two different races, Treyvon Crabtree placed fourth with a time of 23.27 in the event followed by Trevor Montanye with a time of 23.48 placing fifth in the event both finishing top five. Harrison Stapleton was top five in his field with a time of 23.12.

In the 400M for the Rangers, Christian Franklin led the way with an 11th-place finish with a time of 52.86 followed by Oshea Johnson with a time of 53.01.

Ray Chavira had his new personal best in the 800M run placing 20th overall in the event with a time of 2:25.85 for his best mark. 

The one-mile run featured the Rangers placing first as James Fincher led the way with his new personal record with a time of 4:29.54 mile. In the event the Rangers had one other runner set his personal best with a time of 4:51.56, Alan Lares placing 22nd. 

Fincher continued his strong showing with a first-place finish in the 3000M event as well backing up his mile performance in the met. In the event, Edgar Reyes set his new PR for his best performance in the 3000M.

Devin Blackwell placed seventh overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.88M for his jump. Trejon Crump placed 16th with a 6.27 mark. Kaleb Woolery in the pole vault was 6th with a 4.00M mark in his event. In the shot put Brock Bourgeois finished 13th before a 14th-place finish in the weight throw.
