ALVA, OKLA. - The Northwestern Oklahoma Football team defeated the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm 33-22 on homecoming behind Kaedric Cobbs three touchdown day.
The Crimson Storm started the scoring in the first quarter on a 48-yard touchdown pass from Bryson Evans to Karomo Collins putting Southern Nazarene on top 7-0. The Ranger offense answered back quickly with a Kaedric Cobbs rushing touchdown to tie the game 7-7. Southern Nazarene wasted no time regaining the lead with a 56 yard touchdown run to take a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter.
Northwestern followed the Southern Nazarene scoring drive with one of their own eight play scoring drive capped off with Cobbs' second touchdown of the day. Cobbs' third touchdown of the afternoon gave Northwestern their first lead of the game at 21-14.
The Rangers added a field goal early in the second half to extend their lead to ten and on their very next offensive possession Caleb Deal connected with Royal Kyle for a 10 yard touchdown pass giving Northwestern a 30-14 lead. Southern Nazarene cut into the Northwestern lead with a 71 yard touchdown pass and a successful two point conversion to make it 30-22 going into the fourth quarter.
The Ranger defense held tight in the fourth quarter to keep the Crimson Storm off the board. Offensively Northwestern added a field goal early in the fourth to make it 33-22.
The Rangers will be in action again next week, when they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on Ouachita Baptist.
