Rangers Blank Tigers in Sunday Showdown

ENID, OKLA. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Soccer team battled East Central to a 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair, as both teams split possession time. The Ranger defense was more stingy, only allowing two first half shots by the Tigers. The Northwestern offense found some success in the East Central end putting up seven shots in the half. Ranger Goalkeeper Taylor Annen made two key saves in the first forty five minutes to keep the Tigers off the board.

Christi-Anne Mills with an assist by Reese Welch put the Rangers on the board fifty seconds into the second half to take a 1-0 lead over the Tigers. The Ranger offense continued to pelt the Tigers with nine more shots in the second half, with Christi-Anne Mills leading the way with four shots, with two of them being shots on goal. Katy Jo Werner also had two shots on goal, while Welch, Jordan Fawcett, and Olivia Staton all fired shots on goal.

Annen kept the Tigers scoreless while facing seven shots, giving her another clean sheet for the season and her second against the Tigers. Annen now has eight shutouts on the season as she chases Delydia Gay's record of 12 shutouts in a single season.

The Rangers will be back in action on Oct. 30, as they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on Ouachita Baptist at 1 p.m.
