SHAWNEE, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State fell in straight sets to Oklahoma Baptist University this Tuesday night at, dropping the match 25-13, 25-14, 25-15 in Great American Conference play.
The Rangers struggled to find their rhythm early as Oklahoma Baptist built an early lead. Northwestern managed to put together a few short runs with strong serves and attacks at the net, but the Bison's consistent hitting kept them out in front. Midway through the set, the Rangers showed signs of momentum with back-to-back points off a service ace and a well-timed block, narrowing the gap briefly before the Bison closed on a decisive run to take the frame 25-13
The Rangers traded points early and showed stronger defense at the net, holding off several Bison runs to stay within reach through the midway mark. A service ace and a few well-placed kills gave Northwestern some momentum, but a series of attack errors and missed serves kept the team from closing the gap. The Bisons won the set 25-14.
The Rangers opened the set with strong serving and improved blocking, taking an early lead and keeping the score close through the midway point. Northwestern continued to battle with several service aces and extended rallies, showing their most consistent play of the night. Despite the late push, Oklahoma Baptist responded with a decisive run to close the set 25:15 and secure the match 3-0.
Mikayla White led the team with nine kills, two aces, five assists and eight digs.
Ivanny Blackwood added six kills.
Ryann Eastes added 13 assists.
Karsyn Smith led the team in digs with 13.
The Rangers return home this Thursday to face Southwestern Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. in their Senior Night matchup.
