ALVA, Okla.- The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's basketball team dismantled the Larks of Hesston College, 108-17, on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Lady Rangers to 3-1 on the season.
The Lady Ranger defense shined throughout the game, and pitched a shutout for the first 12 minutes of the contest, while only allowing one made field goal the entire first half.
The Northwestern offense quickly went to work, as
Jaida Shipp started the game with back-to-back buckets while
Summya Adigun knocked down two three-pointers to build the Lady Ranger lead to 15 just four minutes into the game. The Lady Rangers continued to hammer away at Hesston to lead 35-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The avalanche of points continued in the second quarter, with
Camille Pritchard scoring six straight points in the first three minutes of the quarter, and the Lady Rangers going another massive 23-0 run to take a 68-5 lead going into the locker room.
Northwestern's bench continued to thrive in the second half, as
Ella Porter made two straight layups late in the third quarter to extend the lead to 84-10 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter,
Keely Hussey hit three three-pointers to finish the day with a career-high 14 points. The Lady Ranger lead ballooned up to 93 points with under a minute to play in the game, and Hesston scored with three seconds left to give Northwestern a 108-17 win.
Pritchard led the Lady Rangers in scoring and rebounds with 19 points and 13 boards. She was one of two Lady Rangers with a double-double, as
Madison Denison finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Five different Lady Rangers recorded three assists, while
Conley Cayot, Denison, and
Emma Jo Locks all recorded 4 steals each.
The Lady Rangers had 12 different players score, with six of them in double figures, including four off the bench. Northwestern dominated in the paint with 60 points in the paint and 38 second-chance points.
The Lady Rangers will be back in action on Nov. 25, when they take on Cameron University at 5:30 p.m. inside Percefull Fieldhouse.
