ALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's basketball team crushed Cameron 83-56 on Tuesday night. The win moves the Lady Rangers to 4-1 on the season, and gives them their first victory over the Aggies since 1997.
The Lady Rangers got off to a hot start, as they quickly went on a 9-0 run three minutes into the game behind
Kira Bass and
Jaida Shipp attacking in the paint and
Jamie Molina knocking down a three-pointer to put Northwestern up 14-5 halfway through the first quarter. After several back-and-forth possessions, the Lady Rangers had a 19-12 lead going into the second quarter.
Molina made back-to-back treys early in the second quarter during an 8-0 run that ballooned the Northwestern lead up to 15 with 8:38 remaining in the first half, as Bass went back to work between the blocks to finish with 16 points in the first half, with 14 points in the paint.
Northwestern continued to hammer the Aggies in the second half, as the Lady Rangers maintained a double-digit cushion throughout the entire half.
Summya Adigun,
Conley Cayot, and
Catyn Graham all connected from beyond the arc in the third quarter to expand the Lady Ranger lead up to 20, as Northwestern continued to pull away in an 83-56 win.
Bass led the Lady Rangers in scoring and rebounding with 21 points and 8 boards, giving Bass her second 20-point game this season. Graham finished with 15 points from five three-pointers, and Adigun led the team in assists and steals with five assists and four steals.
The Lady Rangers will be back in action on Nov. 29, when they take on Oklahoma Panhandle State University inside Percefull Fieldhouse at 1 p.m.
