Rangers Take the Series Opener in Extra Innings Over East Central

ADA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State baseball opened a three game series with East Central with a single game Friday afternoon. The Rangers struck for an early lead before winning in extra innings over the Tigers 11-10 in and offensive battle. 

The Rangers move to 9-8 on the season with a 1-6 conference record while East Central falls to 3-12 on the season. 

Northwestern's offense was led by Carson Wright who finished with four hits on the day while driving in five runs and scoring one. Connor Green and Hagen Barcello had three hits each in the win. 

Elias Herrera threw in relief going 5.2 innings allowing one run striking out six batters. Dawson Toborg threw 2 ? scoreless innings striking out three. 

The Rangers jumped out early in the game after a Green single started the hitting followed by a 2-run home run by Hagen Barcello for the early 2-0 lead. 

East Central picked up a leadoff single and stolen base but back to back strikeouts closed out a scoreless first for Jacob Fuller

The Tigers took their first lead after a big second inning scoring six runs. Started with back to back walks leading to a 2-RBI single for Akers to tie the game. This was followed by double steals at second and third to take a 3-2 lead. A bases loaded walk led to a 2-RBI double and a 6-2 East Central lead. 

Northwestern got the first three hitters on base started by a Green leadoff double. Carson Wright then delivered a 3-RBI double to left center field to cut the deficit down to 6-5. East Central was able to escape further damage to keep the home team in front 6-5 through three innings. 

In the bottom of the fourth inning the Tigers extended their lead back to two after a leadoff double came around to score on a sacrifice fly and a 7-5 lead. 

The fifth inning Northwestern got the score tied again after a walk and two straight singles set up an RBI fielder's choice by Colby Grace leading to a sacrifice fly for Green and a 7-7 game through five innings. 

The Rangers regained the lead after a leadoff double by Wright led to an RBI single for Chase Hamilton and an 8-7 lead. The following inning Wright delivered again with a 2-RBI double giving the Rangers the 10-7 lead.

East Central battled back in the home half of the eighth inning when an error led to a double to right field scoring one run followed by a wild pitch and a second error that tied the game at 10-10.

It was extra innings for the Rangers as a single by Chase Gordon led to an RBI sacrifice fly for Dylan Bradford, scoring runner Porter Pittman for the 11-10 lead. 

Rangers closed out the win as Dawson Toborg threw back-to-back strikeouts to seal the 11-10 win over the Tigers. 

Northwestern closes out the three-game series with the Tigers with a Saturday doubleheader starting at Noon.
