ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Basketball team (11-9, 8-6 GAC) is back home for the first of two straight home games starting with Henderson State (13-7, 9-5 GAC) Thursday evening. Rangers will be looking for their second straight win and fifth straight win at home. This is the second match-up of the season closing out the season series after the Reddies won the first game in January 96-70.
This will be the 24th meeting in the series between the two programs as the Rangers trail the history 10-13. Reddies have won both the last two meetings which were in Arkadelphia. Rangers split the season series a year ago with a home win over Henderson State. Overall in the last 10 meetings, the Reddies lead 6-4 in those ten.
Rangers split the road trip to Arkansas with a loss to Harding (63-58) before closing the trip with a victory over Arkansas Tech (71-66). Rangers have won four of the last five games overall and have a 7-4 home record this season.
In the win over Arkansas Tech, the Rangers were led by Camron McDowell with 27 points and Max Alexander with 17 points, the two Rangers in double figures for the game. Alexander added eight assists in the win.Â
The Rangers are led by Camron McDowell and Max Alexander, averaging the most on the team. McDowell is scoring 24.4 points per game which is first in the conference and fifth in the nation. Alexander scores 21.0 points per game for third in the conference. Alexander is fifth in the conference in assists with 4.4 per game. Kabeya Tshibangu is third in the conference in offensive rebounds with 2.50.
McDowell is the team leader in steals with 37 which is third in the conference followed by Max Alexander with 35 which is fourth in the conference. Tshibangu leads the team with 23 blocks on the year which is third in the conference and third in blocks per game at 1.15.
Rangers are first in the league in turnovers per game at 15.55 and second in turnover margin. Northwestern is first in free throws made this season in the conference.Â
HENDERSON STATE:
The Reddies are on a two-game win streak with wins over East Central and Southeastern. They are 2-3 in the last five games. Henderson State is 4-3 on the road this season losing three straight on the road.Â
Henderson State's last time out was a win over Southeastern 92-91 led by Nehikhare Igiehon leading the team with 23 points on the season, one of four double-figure scorers. Rondae Hill was second with 19 points in the game.
The Reddies are led by Igiehon with 14.2 points per game, one of three double-figure scorers joined by Matthew Mayes and Deazhon Perkins at 12.7 and 10.9 points per game. Rondae Hill leads the team in assists with 54 followed by Mayes with 48 on the year.Â
The defensive side of the court is led by Mayes with 50 steals on the season while also being tied with 18 blocks on the season alongside Igiehon with 18 points.Â
