ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State closed out the three-game series on Friday afternoon against Ouachita Baptist. The two teams battled through a pitching duel before the Tigers struck for two runs in the fourth inning and held on for the 2-0 victory over the Rangers. Northwestern honored the team's six seniors on Friday, Rachel Sherwood, Madeline Pack, Rosemary Rivera, Devynn Raile, Avery Clark and Macy Spearman
The Rangers are now 13-32 on the season with a 7-22 conference record. Ouachita Baptist is 19-31 on the season following the win.Â
Macy Spearman, Jadyn Muns, and Madeline Pack each had a hit in the game. Kathryn Jones finished the game, pitching a complete game, striking out two.
The Rangers worked around the first two Tigers reaching base safely in the first inning, but Jones pitched to two fly outs and a pop-up to keep the game scoreless. The Rangers had a single by Macy Spearman, but the Tigers worked around the leadoff single, keeping it 0-0.Â
In the game that featured the two pitchers battling back and forth in a duel, the game remained 0-0 into the fourth inning when the Ouachita Baptist Tigers took their first lead of the game. Started with a leadoff double followed by a walk before a 2-RBI single back up the middle led to a 2-0 lead for the Tigers.
Jadyn Muns had a two-out single in the sixth inning, but the Rangers were not able to score after a groundout.
Ouachita Baptist closed out the 2-0 win over the Rangers after retiring Northwestern in order in the seventh inning.Â
The Rangers will close out the home portion of the schedule on Tuesday afternoon against Southwestern Oklahoma State with a doubleheader starting at 2:00 PM.Â
