ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Ranger Baseball won the 10th straight game after a 7-2 victory over Southern Nazarene. The Rangers used a three run third inning to take the first lead of the game before closing out the win completing the season sweep over Southern Nazarene.
The Rangers improved to 26-14 on the season after the 10th straight win, setting the program record in the DII error for most wins in a row.
Connor Green led the team in hits with a three hit evening scoring one run. Zach Vetal had the most RBI with a three RBI game. Kaden Spray earned his third win of the season after throwing six innings striking out four.
Southern Nazarene started the scoring early after two early singles later led to an unearned run on a Northwestern error with two outs pushing across the first run for the early 1-0 lead.
Rangers looking to answer loaded the bases on two hits but were unable to score as a double play helped the Crimson Storm out of the inning. Northwestern put two more runners on base in the second inning but were not able to score.
The game stayed 1-0 until the third inning when the Rangers struck after back to back doubles by the Green brothers tied the game after a Chad Green double brought in Connor. Zach Vetal singled in two more runs, scoring Colby Grace and Chad Green, as the Rangers led 3-1 following the first three innings.
In the fourth inning Carson Wright led the inning off with a solo home run to extend the lead to a 4-1 lead over the Storm. After a Chad Green walk, Colby Grace followed with a double down the left field line, scoring Green and giving the Rangers a 5-1 lead.
Kaden Spray closed out the sixth inning completing his day after working around a bases loaded jam keeping the Rangers in front 5-1.
Northwestern extended the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning when a Vetal fielder's choice pushed across the sixth run scoring Grace. Vetal later scored on a wild pitch as Northwestern led 7-1.
Southern Nazarene answered the run in the top of the 8th inning after a runner reached on an error before coming around to score on an RBI double. The Rangers closed out the 7-2 victory over Southern Nazarene in the ninth inning to seal the season sweep over the Crimson Storm.
The Rangers will be back in action on Friday evening against Henderson State to start a three game series with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 PM.
