Box Score ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's soccer team defeated New Mexico Highlands 2-0 behind first half goals from Katy Jo Werner and Luana San Miguel.
Northwestern's first goal came in the 18th minute of the first half off the foot of junior midfielder Katy Jo Werner. The two sides traded shots throughout the first period of play, holding the score at 1-0. Northwestern would add another goal late in the half, when Luana San Miguel found the back of the net giving the Rangers a 2-0 advantage.
The two sides traded shots throughout the first part of the second half, with both teams getting good looks at the net. Northwestern's defense held tough keeping the Cowgirl attack at bay in the second half. Ranger Goalkeeper Taylor Annen held strong, not allowing any New Mexico Highland shots past her, to record her fourth shutout of the season.
The Rangers will return to action on Wednesday September 24th, as they host Oklahoma Baptist at the Ranger Soccer Field.
