Shawnee, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's soccer team defeated Oklahoma Baptist, 2-1, to win the GAC opener. The win moves the Rangers to 6-0-1 on the season, which is the best start in program history.
The Rangers got off to a strong start, with
Luana San Miguel setting the tone by scoring 10 minutes into the game. The Rangers only had two total shots in the first half, but
Taylor Annen continued to make saves to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead at the half.
The Bison came out strong in the second half with shot after shot, but the Rangers extended the lead to 2-0 from an
Eryn Warren goal in the 67th minute. The Bison got a goal back in the final 10 minutes, but it was not enough, and the Rangers held on to stay unbeaten.
Jazelle Alvarado led the Rangers in shots with two, while
Jenna Mills contributed with an assist on the San Miguel goal. Annen finished with six saves out of seven shots on goal faced.
The two goals scored by the Rangers brings them to 10 goals for the season, which is already one more goal than the nine scored in the entire 2024 campaign.
The Rangers will be back in action on Sept. 27th, as they travel to Bethany to take on Southern Nazarene at 1 p.m.
