ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Football hosted the East Central TIgers on Family Day. The Rangers were bested by the TIgers 41-20 behind a 31 point East Central second quarter.
Â
Northwestern went up early in the game, driving down the field on their first possession and scoring a field goal. The tide would change with a second quarter interception by East Central in quarter number two, giving the Tigers a 7-3 lead. East Central controlled most of the second quarter, scoring three more times once on a pass from Tiger quarterback Sergio Kennedy to River Shaw. The next was a fumble returned for a touchdown and a Quincy Thompson two yard rush. The Rangers were able to put points on the board to end the half.
Â
The Ranger offense put together a few good drives that got into the Tigers side of the field but stalled out before they could put points on the board. Freshman quarterback Jax Bernard made his debut for Northwestern and quickly found the endzone with a 48 yard touchdown pass to Merric Judd to cap off a five play 75 yard drive midway through the fourth quarter. Bernard added a rushing touchdown in the final minute to cut the deficit to 41-20. The Tigers would hold on and defeat Northwestern.
Â
The Rangers will be in action again at home on October 4th, when they host Southern Arkansas University at 2pm.Â
