Rangers Down Greyhounds in Season Opener

ALVA, OKLAHOMA – The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's soccer team defeated the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds, 1-0, on Thursday afternoon.

The Rangers started the game on the offensive, as they fired three shots in the first ten minutes of the game. The assault continued throughout the first half, as the Rangers finished with nine shots in the first half.

The only goal of the game came from Jenna Mills, who scored in the 38th minute to put the Rangers ahead. Jenna Mills' goal was one of 16 shots on the day, as the Rangers put pressure on the Greyhounds, who only had six.

Christie-Anne Mills led the Rangers with five shots, with four of those shots being on goal. Jenna Mills, Luana San Miguel, and Jazelle Alvarado also provided multiple scoring opportunities for Northwestern with multiple shots on goal.

The win was not only the first of the season for the Rangers, but also the first for head coach Carla Briscoe.

The Rangers will be back in action on September 7th, when they travel to Hays, Kansas to take on Fort Hays State at 3 p.m.
