ALVA, Okla.  - The Northwestern Oklahoma State men's basketball team defeated the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys 76-63, behind two huge scoring performances by Max Alexander and Robbie Armbrester. 

Armbrester led the charge for Northwestern early in the game scoring the first seven points for the Rangers. After a 7-4 lead at the first media timeout, Northwestern went on an 8-4 run to take a 15-8 lead midway through the half. The Rangers kept the pressure on as they pushed their lead to 24-13 at the under eight minute media led by a six point scoring flurry by Alexander.

Alexander provided another spark with two minutes left in the half scoring two straight baskets to give the Rangers a 34-18 lead. Northwestern weathered a late Wonder Boy run to take a 34-22 lead into the intermission.

The Rangers saw their lead start to slip away as Arkansas Tech started the second half on a 

12-4 run to make it 38-34 at the first media break. Northwestern held strong through the initial run with the help of a couple huge dunks by Armbrester midway through the half putting the Ranger lead up to 58-48 with just over eight minutes left to play. The Rangers lead was cut to just two as Arkansas Tech went on an 8-0 run to make it 58-56. Northwestern answered back with an 8-0 run of their own to extend the lead to 10 at 66-56 with just under four minutes left to play. That would be all the Rangers needed as they put the game away with another 10 point scoring run to take down Arkansas Tech.

Northwestern will be back in action on Thursday February 5th as they travel to Arkadelphia to take on Henderson State University.
