WEATHERFORD, Okla - The Northwestern Oklahoma State men's basketball team could not overcome a hot shooting Bulldogs team, as they fell 94-64 to Southwestern.
The Bulldogs grabbed the momentum early in the game, after a couple Ranger turnovers as they jumped out to a 7-3 lead after the first four minutes of play. Alexander gave the Rangers their second lead of the game at 8-7 with a step back three pointer, followed by a quick lay up as Northwestern extended the lead to 10-7. Northwestern saw their lead slip away on the back of a 12-4 Southwestern run that put them ahead 19-14 with just over 11 minutes left in the first half. The Rangers traded baskets with the Bulldogs through the next few minutes, as they closed the gap and got it down to four with less than eight minutes to play. Northwestern went down late in the first half, as Southwestern went on an 11-2 run to lead the Rangers 39-28. Northwestern cut it to 10 but a late three by the Bulldogs sent Northwestern to the locker room trailing 43-30.
Northwestern came out of the half time break looking to take the momentum from Southwestern but was not able to in the first few minutes of the half as they trailed 53-34. Northwestern's offense started to find some wheels in the next period of play but still found themselves down 62-42. The Rangers continued to battle throughout keeping Southwestern to just a 20-point lead but could not overcome the Bulldogs hot shooting.
Northwestern will be back in action on Saturday February 14th as they will take on East Central at 3 p.m.
