Monticello, Ak. - the Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball team split their double header against the University of Arkansas at Monticello thanks to two back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning.
Northwestern got on the board first after Jazmine Mikel scored on a sac fly in the top of the second inning. Pitcher Katy Jones started on the mound for the Rangers. The junior tossed four strikeouts in Game 1. The Blossoms took the lead in the bottom of the fourth after two RBI singles making the score 3-1. After an error by Monticello, the Rangers evened the score at 3 a piece in the top of the sixth. Monticello responded with a home run in the bottom of the sixth and they take Game 1 4-3.
Pitcher Chloe Brown started on the mound for the Rangers in Game 2. After giving up a pair of hits and an RBI single in the bottom of the first, Brown did not allow another run for the rest of the game and she threw four strikeouts. Trailing in the top of the seventh, Aspen Loafman hit a 2-run homer to take the lead for Northwestern. Kaitlyn Corn homered the next pitch and Northwestern took Game 2 3-1.
