ALVA, Okla - The Northwestern Oklahoma State softball team won both games of Monday's double header against Newman, winning the first game 5-4 and 2-0 in game two.
Northwestern opened the scoring in game one plating two runs in the first inning, the first coming in the form of an rbi single by Jamie Molina. Molina would come around to score later in the inning on a wild pitch giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead. Northwestern tacked on one more in the second inning as Savannah Duran came around to score after being walked earlier in the inning.
Northwestern's lead was cut to 3-1 in Newman's half inning as they plated one run on a single to second base. The Rangers answered back and extended their lead when Delaynie Easterly came around to score off of a Jet error. Newman added two more runs in the bottom of the third to make it a 4-3 game.
The Rangers added a run in the top of the fourth as Duran once again came around to score putting Northwestern up 5-3. The Jets added a run as well in the fourth but Northwestern held on to take game one.
Northwestern jumped ahead in the first inning in game two as well on an Esterly single to center that plated Kaitlyn Corn. Northwestern added two runs in the seventh on an Aspen Loafman rbi single to left field and a Molina single to center field. Newman would plate one run in the seventh but the Rangers held on to win game two.
The Rangers will be back in action on Friday when they welcome the Southern Arkansas Muleriders to town starting at 2:00 PM
