ALVA, Okla. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State softball team split the first two games of the series against Henderson State.
Pitcher Katy Jones started on the mound for the Rangers for the first game of the series. The Reddies got off to a hot start to begin the game. They scored three runs in the first inning of the game.
With the bases loaded, Northwestern responded with a double by Kaitlyn Corn in the bottom of the second that scored three runs to even the game.
Henderson State answered with three more runs in the top of the third to regain the lead.
Northwestern chipped at the Reddies lead by scoring a run in the bottom of the fourth.
The dam would finally break as Northwestern scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead, 7-6.
Pitcher Madelyn Cason closed the game out for the Rangers as Northwestern took game one 7-6.
Grace Hulsey started on the mound for the Rangers in game two.
The Reddies scored the first run of the game after a hit by pitch with bases loaded.
