Arkadelphia, Ark. - After a back-and-forth battle, the Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball team stole the first game of the series against Ouachita Baptist University.
Jamie Molina dominated the plate today for the Rangers. Molina went 3-3 with 2 RBI's and a run scored.
Grace Hulsey started on the mound for Northwestern before Madelyn Cason entered and got the save for the Rangers.
Northwestern got on the board first after Jamie Molina hit an RBI in the first inning. Ouachita responded with a homer to even the game at 1.
Northwestern regained the lead in the top of the third after another RBI from Jamie Molina. Molina would score a run after a sac fly to take the lead to two runs.
Ouachita once again responded with two runs of their own to tie the ball game in the following inning.
The Rangers scored again after a sac fly by Jamie Molina in the top of the fifth, however Ouachita answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the fifth.
In the top of the sixth, Jazmine Mikel hit an RBI single to give the Rangers the lead.
Ouachita failed to respond, and Northwestern takes Game 1 of the series 5 to 4.
The Rangers are back in action tomorrow with a doubleheader.
