TOPEKA, Kan. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State baseball fell to Washburn, 2-0, on Tuesday.
The game started off as a pitcher's duel, as Northwestern did not get a hit until the top of the fourth when
Chase Gordon singled up the middle and
Cole Barton ripped a single through the left side to put a Ranger in scoring position. Gordon moved to third on a flyout from
Jason McCarty, but they could not bring Gordon home.
Northwestern got another chance to break the 0-0 tie in the sixth, as Gordon got his second hit of the game on a single to right field and Barton reached on an error. McCarty moved them to second and third on a groundout, but the Rangers could not break the deadlock. Washburn broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh to go up 1-0, and tacked on another run in the eighth to get a 2-0 win over the Rangers.
The Rangers will be back in action on April 10, as they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on Henderson State University at 6 p.m.
