ALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Football team fell in a tough battle to Arkansas Tech 34-29, in the 2026 home opener on Thursday night.
Northwestern sophomore quarterback Jacob T Jones recorded for touchdowns, throwing for three and running for one to lead the Rangers offensively.
Aiden Lewis lead things on the defensive end with 15 tackles on the night.
The Rangers found themselves down early, as the Wonder Boys scored a touchdown with 11:08 in the first quarter. The Rangers answered on their very next drive as quarter back Jones lead Northwestern down the field on a drive that ended with a 12-yard touchdown pass to
Koda Bridges. Jones would punch in a two-point conversion attempt to put the Rangers ahead 8-7. The Wonderboys tacked on 13 points in the second quarter to take a 20-8 lead into the intermission.
Northwestern received the second half kick and with their first possession put together a 2 play 60 yard scoring drive that culminated in a 39-yard touchdown pass from Jones to
Bailee Davenport. Arkansas Tech answered back with a touchdown putting Northwestern down 27-15. The Rangers answered back with a score of their own as Jones recorded his third touchdown of the night to narrow the Wonderboy lead to 27-22. Arkansas Tech added seven more towards the end of the third quarter to extend their lead again 34-22. The Rangers stopped the Wonderboys on fourth down to start the fourth quarter and took the ball down the field on a 8 play 76 yard scoring drive that ended with Jones fourth touchdown of the game this time coming in the form of a 19-yard pass to
Koda Bridges bringing the score to 34-29. The Rangers had a chance late in the fourth with the ball in Wonderboy territory but the drive ended on downs, giving the ball back to Arkansas Tech.
The Rangers will be back on the field next Saturday when they welcome Oklahoma Baptist to Alva for Family Day.
