LAST MEETING: 2/21/2015 – UAM 66 at NW 69

Northwestern Oklahoma State and Arkansas-Monticello met for the second and final time, Saturday afternoon and the game wasn't disappointing, but action packed and a fight to the finish, ending in the Rangers' favor on Senior Day 69-66.

The Ranger win came on a very special day for Northwestern as three former Ranger greats were inducted into the Hall of Fame and a very deserving senior in Emily Eaton was the recipient of the prestigious Hall of Fame Scholarship. Three different Rangers found the double digit column in points with Jonae Isaac leading the way with 17, while Kamera Bozeman and senior guard Emily Eaton netted 15 and 11 respectively.

It didn't look good early on for the home team as UAM quickly jumped out to a 22-3 lead in just under eight minutes. A Bozeman timeout seemed to right the ship however as his team started whittling down the lead to single digits with just over two minutes to play, but the Cotton Blossoms finished the half in front by 10. Isaac and Eaton were the leading scorers in the half for the Rangers with six points and five points, respectively. Both teams came out of the break ready to play, neither letting the other score without having an answer for themselves. Northwestern did start to break through the barrier however as they made it a four-point ballgame with 11:43 remaining in the game.

Once again the Cotton Blossoms pushed the lead back to nine with six minutes and change left to play, but the Rangers were resilient on Senior Day and made it a one-point ballgame with 1:39 to play in regulation. With five seconds to play in the game, Jonae Isaac toed the charity stripe, but wasn't able to convert the three-point play to tie it up at 66, but a technical foul called on the UAM bench allowed the Rangers to shoot free throws. Eaton, an 83 percent free throw shooter on the year was the one to take the shots after the tech, swishing both to take a one-point advantage. Northwestern also had the ball after the free shots and none other than Eaton was fouled again, sending her to the line for two more. She made them both of course to go up by three, and a last ditch effort at the buzzer fell short for the visitors, giving the Rangers the victory.

LAST TIME OUT: 12/3/15 – NW 48 at SAU 74

Northwestern Oklahoma State women's basketball were taken down by Southern Arkansas by a final score of 74-48. The black-and-red saw themselves down early on at the end of the first quarter with the Muleriders finding success, leading 18-19. Southern Arkansas added to their lead early in the 2nd quarter as they expanded their lead 20-10. Southern Arkansas never looked back as they held the lead for the remainder of the game.
