Rangers Drop Home Contest to UCO 8-1

ALVA, Okla. - Matt Bickford started on the mound for Northwestern Oklahoma State and threw a gem, but two solid innings late by Central Oklahoma were the difference in the 8-1 ballgame.

At the Plate

The Rangers were only able to collect five hits on the day and two of those came off the bat of Casey Dickerman who went 2-for-3 on the day. Dickerman was the only multi-hit batter for Northwestern.
Xyruse Martinez and Steven Deckard were both stellar in the field this afternoon and each recorded a hit in the contest.

The K Zone

Sophomore Matt Bickford started on the hill for the Black-and-Red and was a force through seven innings of work, allowing just three hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.
Dakota Stanek came in for Bickford in the top of the eighth inning and surrendered two runs before being knocked out of the game by a line drive come-backer to the mound.
Following the exit of Stanek, a host of Ranger pitchers saw game action, with Brody Ausfahl coming in next, followed by Trevor Rakers, Thomas Sander and Kyle Renbarger.

Game Changer

It was a pitcher's duel all the way up to the 8th inning where half of UCO's runs were scored on a grandslam by Hellbusch.
Dickerman singled to centerfield in the bottom half of the eighth and eventually scored on a wild pitch, but that was all the runs the home team could muster.
The Bronchos collected four hits as well as four runs in the top of the 9th to ultimately seal the win.

On Deck

Northwestern will travel to Magnolia, Ark. to face off with conference foe, Southern Arkansas this weekend.
