ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - It was a tough day and weekend overall for the Northwestern Oklahoma State softball team, falling in all four games this weekend, including the two today to Ouachita Baptist, 5-0 and 1-0.
GAME 1Â
OBU pitcher, Marissa Butler was a tough one to crack this weekend as she allowed no hits for the Rangers who were shut out on the scoreboard and at the dish.
Madison Garza started off the game in the circle and went the full six innings. She surrendered only five hits, while striking out six.
The senior pitcher did surrender five runs however, which proved to be enough for the Tigers to win the game as Butler was perfect across the board, not allowing a single baserunner in the contest.
The perfect game led the hosts to their third win of the series, 5-0.
GAME 2
Karly Murray pitched a solid game where she gave up just a single run, but the offense wasn't there for Northwestern unfortunately.
For the fourth straight game in the series, the Rangers were held scoreless, this time in a 1-0 battle.
OBU scored in the very first inning on a single to right field, but that would be the only run in the seven-inning game.
Northwestern did have a better outing at the plate however as three separate Rangers collected hits in
Brittany Corrales,
Morgan Kirk and
Madison McGraw all had one apiece.
UP NEXT
Northwestern will host rival Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday afternoon for the conclusion of the rivalry series. The games are scheduled to be played at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Alva Rec Complex.
