Rogers Named as Head Golf Coach

ALVA, OKLAHOMA- Northwestern Oklahoma State University director of athletics Brad Franz has announced the hiring of the new Rangers Golf Coach in David Rogers.

"We are very pleased to have Coach Rogers joining the Ranger family and leading our golf programs.  David has an extensive background in golf and is really excited to lead the Rangers.  I know he has big plans to help us grow our program and compete in the GAC" stated Athletic Director Franz.

Rogers will take the reins at Northwestern as the fourth Ranger Golf coach in the Division II era to be the head coach of both the Men's and Women's programs.

The Enid, Oklahoma native, comes to the Ranger family following multiple coaching opportunities in the past. The most recent one was the head girls golf coach at Chisholm High School to the conclusion of last season before taking the position.

"Over my years in the golf industry, I have learned many things. One of the most important things is building relationships through trust. I am very honored to be the Head Golf Coach here at my alma mater. This is a great opportunity to building relationships with the great student athletes at Northwestern" stated head golf coach Rogers.

In his time with Chisholm, he was in charge of running practice throughout the season as the team would participate in four tournaments before making it to the 3A Oklahoma State Golf Tournament at the end of the year.

Before Rogers's time at Chisholm, he was the Assistant Golf Professional at Oakwood Country Club for eleven years until June 2020. During his time at Oakwood, he would be involved in several different activities that would lead to him being a mentor for players while coaching them. Rogers would give lessons to individuals, teaching them swing mechanics and the etiquette one should use while on the course.

He would then teach and give golf clinics to the Enid High Golf team, in which the team would make the 6A Oklahoma High School Golf State Championship.

"This is an exciting time for Ranger Golf! The addition of Coach Rogers takes these programs one step closer to their goals of being highly competitive within the Great American Conference and Central Region. His experience on the golf course, not only playing at a high level, but teaching the game and breaking down the swing is exactly the piece these student-athletes need. He has already made a positive impact and I cannot wait to see the continued improvement these programs make in the future" stated Director of Golf Tim Lauderdale on the hiring of Rogers.

Rogers is a Northwestern Oklahoma State graduate from the Enid campus with a major in Social Sciences and holds his Class A PGA teaching card.

"In my short amount of time here, I have been welcomed with open arms by the staff. I have also already made a great connection with the teams. I foresee the trust and relationships only growing stronger as we have more time together. This is a very special place here at NWOSU and I am very honored to be apart of it" said Rogers on the coaching job.
