Lady Rangers Open Conference Play with the Bison Thursday Evening

Alva, Okla.- The Lady Rangers are set to open conference play Thursday evening as the team plays host to the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist with tip-off set for 5:30 PM in Percefull Fieldhouse as the Lady Rangers look to continue their win streak.

Northwestern will be led by head coach Tasha Diesselhorst as she enters her seventh season with the Lady Ranger program with a career record of 56-84.

Northwestern will carry a three-game winning streak into the Thursday night contest looking to extend it to four. The win streak includes wins over Kansas Christian, Manhattan Christian, and Oklahoma Christian.

The Lady Ranger offense has helped propel the three-game winning streak averaging 108 points per game in those three games while averaging 85.8 through the opening five games. The 85.8 points per game are the seventh-best in Division II.

Northwestern's offense has been led by Bailey Brown, averaging 18 points per game through the opening five games on the year, followed by Andi Pierce at 10.6 for the two players in double figures. The success on offense has been in part to Carly Craig as she has 27 assists on the season, leading the Rangers while averaging 9.4 points per game. The 27 assists have helped lead the Rangers to first in the conference in assists per game and second in total assists. Kinsey Neiderer has been the Rangers shooter behind the arc as he leads the team with a shooting percentage of 50% on 22 shots.

The Red-and-Black's success has come from the defensive side of the ball as well as the Rangers are only allowing 55.8 points per game which is second in the GAC and 43rd nationally. The team has crashed the boards exceptionally well to start the year ranking first in the conference and 11th in the nation in rebounds per game.

Scouting the Lady Bison:

The visitors will come in having won three consecutive games for a 3-2 overall record identical to the Lady Rangers. This will be the Bison's first conference game to date this season. Their wins have come against Northeastern State, Midwestern State, and Cameron.

The Bison will be led by head coach Bo Overton who is in his second year with the program.

Kalifa Ford leads Oklahoma Baptist offense, averaging 14.0 points per game, followed by Andreja Peciuriate at 13.3 points per contest as two of their three double-digit scorers. Ford has led the Bison in rebounding as well, with 8.2 per game good for 41 total rebounds this season. Jaylin Stapleton has been the leader of the offense with a team-high 15 assists to date this season.

The Bison come into the contest averaging 69 points per game while allowing 64.2 points.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bison have been led by Stapleton with 13 steals on the year followed by two with six. They have two players with three blocks in Peciuraite and Madison Chambers.

Since joining Division II, this will be the team's 15th meeting, with the series going back to 2016. The Rangers currently lead the series 8-6, winning six of the last seven games against the Bison, looking to continue to recent success in the series history.  Northwestern won a close 74-72 game the previous year in Shawnee to complete a 3-1 series win last season.
