ALVA, OKLA- The Lady Rangers will return to action Saturday afternoon playing host to Southern Arkansas with tip-off set for 1:00 PM. This will be the second meeting between the two teams the Lady Rangers look to complete the season sweep over the Muleriders following a 73-66 victory in their first meeting.
Northwestern (11-8 Overall, 7-5 GAC) enters play following a Thursday night victory over Arkansas-Monticello for their sixth straight home win on the season. The Lady Rangers are now 9-1 at home this season.
The Lady Rangers will look to carry the momentum from Thursday following the team's standout performance on offense and defense. Northwestern is coming off a 97 point outing, their most in a conference game this season. The Red-and-Black now average 73.1 points per game on the season which is seventh in the conference. Northwestern now has the second best scoring margin at +10.7 following the 48 point victory. Northwestern is fourth in field goal percentage which is partially in part of the ability to move the ball as the Lady Rangers rank third in assists in the conference.
Northwestern is led in scoring by Bailey Brown leading the team with 18.5 points per game as one of two double figure scorers as Scout Frame comes in averaging 15.5 points. Brown shoots 51.7% from the field. Northwestern is fourth in the conference in three point shots made for the team as Kinsey Neiderer leads the team with 40 on the season followed by Carly Craig with 26 as they both lead the team with 37.7%.
Lady Ranger freshman Carly Craig leads the team with 81 assists on the season which ranks second in the conference and 23rd in the nation in total assists on the year following her performance on Thursday with eight. She averages 4.2 per game which ranks second in the conference as well.
The Red-and-Black defense will look to continue their success after holding the Muleriders to 66 points in their first meeting when the team averages 81 per game. The Lady Rangers rank second in field goal percentage defense holding their opponents to 37% from the field. Northwestern is second in points allowed only allowing 62.4 points a game from their opponent.
Scouting the Muleriders:
Southern Arkansas (9-10 overall, 4-9 GAC) enters play Saturday on a two game losing streak following Thursday's loss to Southwestern 95-58. The Muleriders come in 2-6 on the road after dropping six straight games on the road.
The Lady Rangers will look to slow down Southern Arkansas as the visitors come in ranked first in the conference in scoring at 85.1 points per game which ranks second in division II. They are led by three players averaging double figures led by Kisi Young at 14.1 points per game followed by Diamond Morris, and Ariana Guinn. Young and Guinn lead the team with 38 assists each on the season.
Southern Arkansas comes in ranked 11th in the conference in defense allowing 83.4 points per game as teams are shooting 47.2% from the field which is 12th. Kenzie Ezekiel leads the team with 33 steals on the year while Kylie Warren leads the team with 11 blocks on the year.
History:
Northwestern will look to continue their success against the Muleriders as the team has won four of their last five games against Southern Arkansas. The series history the Lady Rangers lead 9-8 with a 6-3 home record.
Northwestern won the first meeting between the two teams this season 73-66 in Magnolia. S. Frame led the team with 24 points in the game as one of three double figure scorers as Neiderer hit five three pointers for 15 points and Brown finished with 10 points.
