Northwestern Concludes OBU Invite Finishing with 3rd Place Finish

SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State returned to action Saturday morning with the OBU Invite hosted by Oklahoma Baptist. The Ranger Men's Cross Country team placed third in the meet with on top 10 finisher and eight in the top 30 overall.

"The men went out fast and laid it all out on the course today. I seen something from many of them that I have not seen all year as far as effort goes" stated coach Sterlin Broomfield.

Northwestern had their first finisher placing eighth in the meet in Zachary Cox running with a time of 27:15.71 with an average time of 3:24.46 per KM in the 8KM dash. Davin Soto was second for the Rangers with an 11th place finish with a 27:45.09 time and an average of 3:28.76.

"Our team competed hard today and I am delighted with the efforts but more importantly the information we gained from racing on the Great American Conference Championship course. This is a huge benefit in our preparations for the Championship meet" stead head coach Jill Lancaster.

Northwestern had two back to back runners placing third and fourth for Northwestern and 15th and 16th in the meet. Ben Morfin finished with an average time of 3:35.04 and a time of 28:40.35 overall for 15th in the meet. Salat Ibrahim ran in 16th in the meet with a final time of 28:41.78.

Jeremy Smith placed 22nd in the race with a time of 30:32.40 in the meet and the fifth Ranger. Draven Hidalgo followed him placing 23rd in the meet with a time of 30:52.20 with an average time of 3:51.52. Cooper Frymire was the next runner in the top 25 with a 25th place finish running a 31:40.82.

Victor Kibet was the 8th Ranger to finish the meet in 27th overall with a time of 32:11.06 in the race. Willem Johnson was 32nd overall in the meet with a 33:20.93. Jonathan Ylitalo, and Ray Chavira were 35th and 36th in the meet with a time of 34:06.06 and 34:25.68 in the meet.

Overall the final results in the meet were Oklahoma Christian placing first followed by Oklahoma Baptist, Northwestern, East Central, and Redlands Community College. The Rangers will return to action on November 5th traveling back to Shawnee for the Great American Conference Championship meet next.
