Lady Rangers Open Up Final Trip in Arkansas Against the Tigers

ALVA, OKLA- Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's basketball traveled to Arkadelphia for their final trip to Arkansas this season for the first of two games. The Lady Rangers are set to take on Ouachita Baptist Thursday evening with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 PM. Northwestern will look to complete the season sweep over the Tigers after a 19 points win back on January 8th. 
 

The Lady Rangers (12-9 overall 8-6 GAC) enter play winners in two of their last three games on the season after a Saturday come from behind win over East Central. Scout Frame earned her second conference player of the week award following a 25 point 11 rebound performance for her fifth double double of the season. 
 

Northwestern will look to continue to control the game through the defensive side of the ball as the Lady Rangers are second in the league in field-goal percentage defense holding their opponent to only 37.4% shooting from the field. Overall the team is second in points allowed per game at 63.4 points each game. Northwestern is fifth in the league at 9.4 steals per game as the team is sixth in the conference in forced turnovers at 16.67.
 

Carly Craig leads the team with 31 steals on the season with Bailey Brown second with 30 on the year. Brown leads the team with 10 blocks on the season with Camille Thomas second with seven. 
 

On the offensive side of the ball Bailey Brown and Scout Frame are the two Lady Rangers averaging double figures, Brown at 18.3 per game and Frame at 16.0 each game. Brown has a team lead of 51.6% from the field. Kinsey Neiderer leads the team with 42 made three pointers on the season for 36.5% on the year. On 30 three point attempts on the season Brown leads the team at 40% from three. Northwestern continues to share the ball at a high successful rate as Craig is second in assists and assists per game with 96 on the year and 4.6 per game. As a team the Lady Rangers are third in the conference in assists with 312 on the year at 14.9 per game. 
 

Scouting the Tigers: 

The Tigers (8-12 overall and 6-10 GAC) enter play Thursday winning their last game over Henderson State at home. Ouachita Baptist are 1-4 in their last five games. The Tigers come in with an 8-3 home record on the season. 
 

Ouachita Baptist is led by Aspen Thornton scoring 24.5 points per game as one of three players averaging double figures this season. Makayla Miller scores 16.1 per game and Laney Mears averages 12.2 per game. This trio leads an offense scoring 75.7 points per game which ranks fifth in the conference in points per game. They are fifth in three point field goals made and per game with just under seven per game. Thornton is second in the conference in field goals made on the season. They are 11th as a team on assists per game. 
 

The Tigers defense is 10th in points allowed per game giving up 73.3 points per game and fifth in defensive field goal percentage as teams are shooting 38.9% on the season. They are third in 

the league in steals on the season at 10.6 per game. Thornton is first in the conference with 57 steals on the season for 2.85 per game.
 

History: 

This is the second meeting of the season between the two teams as the Rangers look to complete the season sweep. Northwestern took the first game 78-59 behind 26 points and 13 rebounds from Brown. S. Frame dropped 19 points while Craig finished with 13 points as the three Ranger double figure scorers. 
 

Overall the Lady Rangers lead the series history 9-8 that dates back to 2013. Northwestern has won four straight games over the Tigers. Ouachita is 3-2 in the last five games in Arkadelphia.
