Swanson Signs Deal with Great Falls Voyagers

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State pitcher Ethan Swanson will continue his baseball career this summer after completing his final season with the Rangers in the Spring.

The Alva native has signed a contract with the Great Falls Voyagers in the Pioneer League, which is a pro independent MLB partner baseball league.

"I'm happy to see Ethan get an opportunity to continue his playing career at the professional level. He is extremely talented and has the ability to excel" stated head coach Ryan Bowen.

Swanson spent the last three years with Northwestern after taking a redshirt year in 2020, he pitched for the team in 2021 and 2022. In two seasons playing the Ranger pitcher threw 105 innings in 28 appearances, while striking out 116 batters in those innings.

"It was a huge surprise when I found out about it because I was supposed to be heading home from North Dakota that next day. Thankfully the work paid off and I cannot thank all of those who have helped me enough. It has always been a dream to play professional baseball and it means so much" stated Ethan Swanson on the opportunity.

In the most recent 2022 season Swanson finished with 69 strikeouts in 55 innings of work. He appeared in 15 games this season while having his lowest ERA, in his Northwestern career. It was his most appeared games, highest strikeout total and most innings all being improvements from the 2021 season.

Swanson has begun his time with the Voyagers immediately for the 2022 season wearing the number four. The link to Great Falls website is (https://www.gfvoyagers.com/landing/index) to follow Swanson during the season.
