Northwestern Sweeps Cameron in Non-Conference Game

Lawton, Oklahoma - The Rangers hit the road for a non conference game against Cameron University and swept the Aggies 3-0. Addison Wimmer led Northwestern in kills with 14. Cameron Lobb collected 32 assists and Andrea Coady accumulated 14 digs. This win advances the Rangers to an overall record of 11-6 on the season. 
 

Set One: 

Amazing defense from libero Andrea Coady paired with aggressive offense from Addison Wimmer and Ravyn Burns allowed The Rangers to start the match with an early 5-0 run. Wimmer contributed another deep corner kill to force Cameron into a timeout 6-0. A block from the Aggies ended Northwestern's run. Wimmer contributed an ace serve and Tarra Parks fired off back to back kills to forward the Ranger lead 11-3. A solo block from Burns pushed the Ranger momentum forward extending their lead 18-8. Cameron responded with a late 4-0 run to close the gap. The Aggies strung together another set of points with great defense to come back and tie the set 21-21. Wimmer contributed a kill for Northwestern. A stuff block from Cameron allowed them to take the lead for the first time in the game 24-23. An ace from Coady sealed the victory in the first set for Northwestern 26-24, as the Rangers strung together three straight points. 
 

Set Two: 

Both teams battled point for point at the start of the second. An ace serve and a kill shot from the Aggies pushed them into the lead and forced the Rangers into a timeout 4-2. Parks contributed a kill and Burns contributed an ace to close the gap on Cameron 7-5. Carmae Jones added an additional kill and solo block for Northwestern. Parks contributed a kill forcing the Aggies into a timeout and allowing the Rangers to retake their lead 11-10. Wimmer fired off a kill and Parks contributed an ace serve. A closed block from Courtney Russell and Jones allowed Northwestern to continue their lead 18-16. Parks and Wimmer fired off kills to win the second set for the Rangers 25-21 and lead the match 2-0. 
 

Set Three: 

An early 4-0 run from the Aggies at the start of the third set allowed them to lead 5-2. Russell fought back for Northwestern with a kill from powering through the block. Back to back service errors from both teams kept Cameron ahead 9-6. Once again Russell responded for the Rangers with back to back kills closing the gap 11-10. Cameron Lobb contributed a kill. The Aggies responded with a kill. Wimmer and Jones fired off a kill each to tie the game 15-15. The teams reached a stalemate, battling back and forth for the lead. A kill and service ace from Wimmer allowed Northwestern to pull away in the final points 23-19. A final kill from Russell clinched the Ranger's sweep over the Aggies 25-21. 
 

The Rangers return to conference play at home this Thursday as they take on the Lady Muleriders of Southern Arkansas. The first serve of the match is set for 7:00 PM in Percefull Fieldhouse.
