Northwestern Sweeps Conference Match for Third Straight Win

Alva, Oklahoma - Northwestern Volleyball continued their homestand against Arkansas Monticello. The Rangers were led in kills and digs by Addison Wimmer with 12 each. Wimmer was closely followed by Andrea Coady who collected 11 digs. Cameron Lobb led in assists 31. 

Set One: 

Both teams came out of the gates fighting and battling point for point. Outside's Addison Wimmer and Tarra Parks contributed a kill each. A middle slide from Carmae Jones allowed the Rangers to start to pull away 7-5. Back to back kills from Wimmer furthered this lead. Arkansas Monticello responded with a kill. Wimmer contributed an overpass kill and Russell fired off a 10 foot kill and back row tip to extend Northwestern's lead 14-9. Out of a Cotton Blossom timeout, Parks contributed an ace. Wimmer contributed back to back kills with a tandem play to advance Northwestern's uncontested lead 22-14. Russell put up a solo block. Arkansas Monticello responded with a late 6-0 run to tie the game 23-23. A solo block from Parks allowed the Rangers to clinch the first set 25-23.
 

Set Two: 

Northwestern started the second with a 7-0 run. Burns contributed a middle slide and a solo block toward the Rangers early lead. Arkansas Monticello broke the run with a ten foot tip. They fired off an ace serve to close the gap 7-3. Parks responded with a kill to keep Northwestern's forward momentum and extend their lead 11-6. Arkansas Monticello fought back with an ace serve. Russell and Parks responded with an ace each to hold onto the Ranger lead 15-9. A late 6-0 run from the Blossoms allowed them to close the gap 18-17. Wimmer broke their run with a kill. Jones put up a solo block and Parks powered a kill off the block onto Northwestern's lead 23-20. A deep corner tip from Wimmer allowed the Rangers to take set two 25-23. 
 

Set Three: 

The two teams reached a stalemate by set three battling back and forth and struggling to take the lead. A kill from the Cotton Blossoms allowed them to lead 6-5 for the first time in the match. Jones and Wimmer quickly responded with a kill each. Off the bench, Brooke Miller fired off an ace to extend Northwestern's lead 10-8. Russell and Parks contributed a kill each. The Cotton Blossoms fought back with a setter dump. Back to back kills from Russell extended the Ranger lead 18-11. Parks and Wimmer contributed a kill each to secure another conference victory for Northwestern 25-18.  
 

Northwestern Volleyball returns to action for a non conference game next Tuesday against Oklahoma Christian University. The first serve versus the Eagles is set for 6:00 PM in Percefull Fieldhouse!
