Two Lady Rangers Name to All-Conference Team

SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA - The Great American Conference announced their annual end of the season awards at the 2022-2023 Great American Conference basketball banquet with the postseason starting Thursday. The Lady Rangers had two individuals named to the all-conference team along with having the GAC Newcomer of the Year award winner.

Faith Simpson and Carly Craig earned conference recognition Wednesday evening as Faith Simpson earned All-GAC First team along with the 2022-23 Newcomer of the Year for the conference. Craig received honorable mention honors for the conference voted by the coaches.

Simpson finished this season averaging 18.2 points per game which was fourth in the conference overall and just one of five players that averaged over 15 points per game. Her eight rebounds was good for sixth in the conference and fifth in total offensive rebounds with 73 for the season. Simpson finished seventh in field goal percentage at .490. The Ranger junior also finished top five in both blocks and steals per game this season. She was the only player to be in the top five of both defensive categories. 

Craig earned All-GAC honorable mention following a season she averaged 12.5 points per game, for 18th in the conference overall. She was second for most three pointers on the season with 73 being one of only two players to hit over 60 three pointers for the year. On top of her scoring Craig was one of the best in passing the ball with 4.5 assists per game second in the league and 118 overall as one of four players with at least 100 assists on the season. On the defensive side of the ball Craig was fourth in steals with 59 this season and fourth per game with 2.3.
