ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State University men's basketball coach Robbie Harman has resigned his position as head men's basketball coach. Harman has been the Rangers head since 2022. A national search for a new men's basketball coach will begin immediately.
Harman had a 53-60 record and two appearances in the Great American Conference Tournament during his time at the helm and numerous players landing on all GAC teams. This year's team finished in a five way tie for sixth place in the GAC in 2026. Harman's team finished third in the GAC in 2023-24 and advanced to the semi-finals of the GAC tournament before bowing out to eventual champion Arkansas Tech.
"I want to thank Coach Franz and Northwestern for giving me the opportunity to lead the program at Northwestern. I'm so grateful for the whole university that supported me and continues to support my family as we deal with my wife's battle with cancer. We truly love the whole community of Alva, and will miss all the great people we have met. We will always be loyal supporters of the program and University and wish everyone success! Ride, Rangers, Ride!" Harman said.
Vice President of Athletics, Brad Franz, praised Harman for his dedication to his student-athletes.
"Robbie Harman is an excellent basketball coach and a true Ranger. I am grateful for the work he put in every day into building our basketball program. Under his leadership, his players won on the court and in the classroom. I understand his decision to step away during this difficult time to be with his family. He will always be a part of the Ranger family," Franz said.
A national search will begin immediately.
