Tigers Take Game One of Series

ALVA, Okla. -- Northwestern Oklahoma State squared off with Ouachita Baptist in the series opener with the visitors prevailing in the end, 7-2.

At the Plate

The Rangers struggled at the plate today as Garrett Douglas was the lone Ranger to collect more than one hit as he was 2-for-4 on the day.
Jacob Long and Xyruse Martinez were the other two hitters with hits, as Long sent one over the right field fence, while Martinez's hit was a rope to center field that took him to third base with the triple.

The K Zone

Pat Delano started on the mound for the Rangers and went six and two-thirds innings where he struck out seven batters, while giving up six runs, however only one of those was earned.
Kyle Renbarger came on in relief for Delano in the seventh, but was unable to record an out which brought Trevor Rakers to the hill.
Rakers was responsible for the last out of the seventh after which he threw the eighth, giving up one run.
Finishing out the game for the Rangers was senior Thomas Sander who threw the full ninth inning and pitched well, striking out two Ouachita hitters, and kept the Tigers off the base pads altogether.

Game Changer

Ouachita started off the game with a run after a single through the right side scored the lead runner, making it 1-0 early.
Long had an answer for the run in the third inning as he smoked one over the right field fence to knot it up at one apiece.
The visitors took control of the game in the fourth where they put two more runs on the board and followed that up in the seventh with two more.
Northwestern was able to score a run in the seventh as Martinez started off with a one-out triple, after which Alex Phillips collected an RBI on a groundout to the second baseman. The run would be the final one for the Rangers, ultimately ending the game.

On Deck

Northwestern and Ouachita will finish the series tomorrow afternoon beginning at noon. Before the game begins, the first responders of Alva and Woods county will be honored for their services.
