WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State came up short in their last regular season game against arch rival Southwestern Oklahoma State, Sunday afternoon in a 7-4 game, but were also successful in making school history in wins in Great American Conference play.
At the Plate
The K Zone
- Pat Delano started on the mound for the Rangers and threw for three innings of work, striking out two in the process and giving up no runs.
- Jason Barlett also made an appearance in his final game in a Ranger uniform, throwing for an inning and striking out two as well.
- In his first relief appearance following an injury, Stetson Buller Jr. had a rough outing surrendering four runs on two hits.
- Coming in for two full innings of work was Brad Drury who had two strikeouts and zero runs allowed.
- The loss would unfortunately go to the next Ranger pitcher, Zach Postoak who was responsible for the Bulldog run that put them ahead.
- Making one final appearance was Kyle Renbarger who pitched the final inning of work.
Game Changer
- The Rangers started out on top going up 3-0 early on in the game with the first run scoring on an RBI walk and the next two on a two RBI single by Greenwalt, scoring Smith and Casey Dickerman.
- Southwestern didn't go away easy however as they rattled off four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a one-run lead. Benn was able to tie it up however in the seventh inning where Bess scored on the single to first base.
- The Bulldogs were able to close out the Rangers in the bottom of the seventh and the eighth innings however and ultimately taking the game 7-4.
News and Notes
- Northwestern was unfortunately removed from playoff contention this afternoon, but the team did manage to win more games in conference play this year and the most GAC wins in school history as full members.
