ALVA, Okla. – A pair of Northwestern Oklahoma State University basketball players, Kalea King and Treyvon Andres, have been named the Blue Sky Media December Athletes of the Month, it was announced on Thursday.

Both players received the honor after leading their respective teams in scoring and rebounds during the month of December, and each athlete also recorded a double-doubles during the same period.

Earning the honor as the Male Athlete of the Month, Andres led the Rangers with 63 points and 42 rebounds during the month. The senior closed the month with back-to-back double-doubles, including 17 points and 12 rebounds in an overtime victory over Emporia State to close the month.

Because of his efforts in the Emporia State game, Andres was named the Great American Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

King was named the Female Athlete of the Month after averaging 14.6 points and six rebounds a game in four contest to close the calendar year. On December 4 at home against Newman (Kan.), King had a 20-point performance and a season high 10 rebounds for her second career double-double.

King is currently in the top ten in the league in scoring at 15.2 points a game.

The Northwestern basketball teams are in action tonight on the road at Henderson State. The women will tipoff the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at approximately 7:30.
