Northwestern vs Southeastern Men's basketball Preview

ALVA, Okla. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers are taking on the 18th ranked team in the nation this Saturday afternoon. The Black-and-Red are currently on a two-game win streak and look to challenge Southeastern Oklahoma State University in their 12th match-up all time. Northwestern comes in with a record of 3-5 with a 0-2  Great American Conference mark while Southeastern enters with an undefeated 4-0 record and a 2-0 mark in league play.
 
The Rangers have faced the Savage Storm well as they have earned 5 wins to their 6 with a tough loss in their last match-up 72-79. Jack Peck led the team in that game with 15 points and eight rebounds, while A.J. Jones earned 14 points and had eight assists.

Northwestern is hoping to extend their two-game win streak with both wins coming on 81 points against Bethel College and Randall University. The Rangers were able to hold their opponents to an average of 73 points in the last two games.
 
Southeastern will be coming to Percefull Fieldhouse where they have had trouble before with the Ranger's 4-3 record at home. They are, however, on a four-game win streak with their last match-up against Southeastern Oklahoma State with a score of 102-79.
 
The Rangers are led by Head Coach Vinay Patel who is in his first season with Northwestern. The Black-and-Red offense is led by Parrish Hewitt who averages 12.3 points per game, with Senior Jaedon Whitfield close behind at 12.3 points per game. The last two wins Whitfield has earned a double-double to help secure the wins and averages 7.5 rebounds. A.J. Jones leads the Rangers with 5.8 assists per game.
 
Southeastern is led by head coach Kelly Green who is in the middle of his ninth season who has a career record of 112-116 and 82-82 in the GAC. The Savage Storm's offense is led by last year's GAC Player of the Year Kevin Buckingham with 19.3 points per game, and A'Torey Everett averages 18.3 points per game.

Reminder that the Men's Basketball team is collecting cans for their first can drive to give to Youth and Family Services at the game on Saturday. There will be a box at the main entrance that you can place your donations. The Rangers have raised almost 750 cans and have a final goal of 1000 any donation will be appreciated.
