Lady Rangers Conclude HSU Invite in Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Lady Rangers concluded their three rounds of the HSU Invite at the Hot Springs Country Club.

The Red-and-Black completed three rounds in two days at the Hot Springs Country Club and recorded a team score of 354-333-333 – 1020.

Madison Masch finished on top of the Lady Rangers team leaderboard after turning in a three-round total of 247. She tallied one birdie and improved her first-round score of 88 by eight shots after carding a 77 in round two. Masch scored an 85 in her third and final round of the tournament in Hot Springs.

Ashley Watts carded an 88 in the first and second round. She was able to improve her game in her final round after turning in an 81 to total her overall score at 257.

Samantha Friday recorded two birdies and finished each round score before than the previous, she carded a 91-86-85 – 262.

Campbell Payne, a freshman from Broken Arrow, led the team in birdies with five. Four of her birdies she snagged in the third round. Payne recorded a 90-92-82 – 264

Mackena Tennyson eagled the par five on hole 13 and turning in a three-round total of 272. Tennyson carded a 92 after the first round, an 82 in the second and a 98 in her final round.

Great American Conference opponent Henderson State claimed the tournament victory after turning in a team total of 296-301-305 – 902.

Katie Whitfield of Arkansas Tech led the HSU Invite after carding a 219 in three rounds. Whitfield shot a 73 in each round played.

UP NEXT: Northwestern Women's Golf will be back in action on April 5-6 for the Newman Women's Invitational at the Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Newton, Kan.
