Rangers Return Home To Open Three Game Homestand Thursday Evening

ALVA, OKLA- Northwestern Oklahoma State will return to action Thursday evening following the Lady Rangers game at 5:30. Northwestern will play in their first game in the year 2022 after their Saturday game against Arkansas-Monticello was postponed this past Saturday. The Thursday night matchup will mark the first of two matchups this season vs the Reddies.

The Rangers (7-4 overall and 2-3 Great American Conference) will look to snap their two-game losing streak on the season. Northwestern has won three of their last five games overall though as they look to get back in the win column.

Northwestern's defense continues to be one of the top in the league as the Rangers are ranked first in blocks per game and first in blocks on the season in the conference. These are both top 10 in the nation. Furlong leads the team with 2.45 per game and 27 on the season through 11 games. Northwestern is second in the league in steals per game led by Larry White with 17 on the season for 1.55 per game. The 67.6 points per game rank fourth in the conference in the least amount of points allowed per game.

The Ranger offense averages 78 points per game which ranks the third-most in the conference. White leads the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game as one of three double-figure scorers. He is followed by Malik Parsons and Bubba Furlong with 11.3 and 10.4 respectively. Northwestern has three players tied at 25 for the most assists on the team in Parsons, Furlong, and Brian Free. The Rangers are second in assists per game and fourth on the season in the conference. Furlong leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game followed by White with 5.9 on the season. Furlong has brought down 31 offensvie rebounds on the season to lead the team.

Scouting the Opponent- Henderson State

Henderson State(7-4 overall, and 3-2 GAC) enters play Thursday winners in three of their last five games but comes in with a loss in their last contest against Oklahoma Baptist.

The Reddies rank seventh in the conference in scoring with 71.4 points per game on the season. Malik Riddle is HSU's lone double-figure scorer at 10.8 per game followed by Xavier Davenport at 9.2 on the season.  The Reddies are second in the conference in foul shooting with the second most to date on the year. Alvin Miles leads the team with 30 assists on the season for the Reddies followed by Marshall with 18.

Henderson State plays strong defense ranking first in the conference in steals per game and total steals on the season and sixth in the conference in blocked shots per game. The Reddies are the number two defense against the three-point shot on the season. Yuri Swinford leads the team with 10 blocks on the season. Quawan Marshall leads the team with 20 steals on the year through the first 11 games of the season.

History:
Henderson State leads the series history 9-7 over the Rangers since the 2013 season. The Reddies have won four of the last five meetings between the two teams including the last two games. The two teams are 2-2 in the last four games in Percefull Fieldhouse.
