Women's Cross Country Wins Muthama-Rogers Meet

North Newton, Kansas - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Cross Country team won the Muthama- Rogers Cross Country meet hosted by Bethel on Saturday morning. The Rangers were led by six runners earning top 10 finishes on Saturday in the 5K Saturday.

The Rangers were led by Liberty Goodnow finishing the race with a final time of 22:14.5 for second place overall in the meet helping the Rangers to the first place finish. Goodnow was joined by Emily Smith running a 22:33.6 for third place finishing 19 seconds behind second. Leiyah Light was the Rangers third top five finish for Northwestern running a 22:47.0.

"We really ran well today and the team gained confidence and definitely worked together as a unit. one of the first signs of a great team" stated Jill Lancaster head coach for Northwestern.

Emily Flores placed eighth in the meet finishing with a time of 23:53.9, followed by Cameryn Boykin, and Jaeden Coon in 10th for the six top 10 finishers. Boykin finished with a time of 24:00.6 with Coon finishing with a 24:08.5.

In eleventh place for the individual results in the meet Jerika Coon ran a 24:11.1. Mallory Paruszewski placed 18th in the meet wiht a time of 26:36.2 as the 8th Ranger in the top 20. Emilie Brown ran a 41:04.9.

"Today the women stepped up to the plate and made history. Going into the race I mentioned to the women that they need to go out and defend their title from last year at this meet." stated Sterlin Broomfield.

The Rangers will run in Chile Pepper Festival next week on Friday September 30th hosted by the University of Arkansas with a 3:15 start time.
