WICHITA, KANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State Track & Field finished the Herm Wilson Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Ranger's continued to show success in the meet throughout the weekend. In the weekend meet 30 personal bests were set along with two more school records.
"Our lady Rangers united to make us proud again. The ability to continue moving in the right direction with confidence bodes well. The team continues to embrace tough competition with positive results. I continue to be amazed at our team's tenacity to be better & compete with the best . They continued progress with a string of 30 personal bests coming off 41 from last week. In the process an additional 2 school records were set in the 60m Dash Brantley and the 4x 400 Relay run by Bell, Lacy, Hengen and Henderson"
The Rangers were highlighted by Brianna Brantley setting the school record in the 60m dash, in addition to the 4x400 relay run which included Bell, Lacy, Hengen, and Henderson.
Gina Wilson and Mary Kate Foster competed for Northwestern in the Pentathlon finishing 11th out of 19 athletes competing in this event. She finished with a total of 2604 points. Foster placed 17th in the event finishing with 2005 points.
In the 5000m the Rangers had one individual compete in the event as Liberty Goodnow set her new personal best in the event after placing 4th out of nine. She finished with a time of 20:33.99. Olivia Saner was the lone representative in the pole vault event placing 26th finishing with a mark of 2.69m.
Raegan Thurmond competed in the triple jump placing 10th in the event with a mark of 9.60m. The following event in the weight throw Kelsey Swindle competed in the weight throw placing 19th in the event with a mark of 12.43m.
The Women's high jump featured two Northwestern athletes as Takia Zachary led the Rangers placing 11th in the event with a mark of 1.45m followed by Ladasheray Bell with 1.35m placing 14th in the event.
Three Rangers competed in the long jump as Nyel Kennedy, Aja Johnson, and Maryam Dianka placed in the top 20. Kennedy was 8th with a mark of 4.84m. Johnson was 11th at 4.63m as she finished in front of Dianka at 18th with a mark of 4.22m.
In shot put, Northwestern had four athletes compete with the highest finisher Emmalee Osborn with a final mark of 10.40m in 18th, followed by Temi Michaels in 28th with a mark of 9.34m. Mackayla Womack had a mark of 9.21m and Hannah Appleton with a mark of 8.65m in 34th place.
Emily Smith placed 12th in the women's 60m hurdles as one of two Rangers to compete in the event. Alyssa Wilson was the second placing 21st overall. Smith finished with a time of 9.64m with Wilson having a time of 12.19.
The women's 60 meters Northwestern was well represented with two qualifiers along with 11 runners. Brianna Brantley and Debbie Olalere placed third and seventh in the event. Brantley finished with a new school record time of 7.83 with Olalere with a time of 7.91.
Darianne Thompson finished eighth with a time of 7.96. Shackera Douglas, Tyleecia Delaney and Riley Midgett finished in three of the four places as Douglas had a time of 8.05 followed by 8.10 and 8.11 from Hengen and Midgett. With a time of 8.19 Kenya Jackson ran for 21st place followed by Shakira Lane in 22nd with a 8.22. Renaja Engermann and Nyel Kennedy placed 31st through 32nd with a time of 8.38 and 8.39.Anayah Green ran a 8.64 time for 43rd in the event.
The Rangers were represented in the mile run by Light placing 29th in the event with a time of 6:34.08, followed by Addie Hoeme in 30th and Jerika Coon in 31st. The 800 meters Northwestern had Emilie Brown place 31st in the event with a time of 3:54.45.
Northwestern was paced by Brantley in the 200 meters as she finished second overall with a time of 25.81. Tavonyia Lacy and Darianne Thompson also placed in the top 10 in the event as Lacy had 26.75 and Thompson had a time of 26.94. They were joined by Midgett, Douglas, and Henderson in the top 20 of the event. Engermann, Johnson, and Smith then each placed in the top 30 finishing in three of five spots from 25-30. Anayah Green ran a 28.73 for 35th place followed by Thurmond, Kennedy, and Dianka in the top 50.
The next event was the 3000 meters which featured Leiyah Light for the Rangers placing 22nd with a time of 13:09.09.
Northwestern set a school record in the final event which was the 4x400m relay as a team of Bell, Lacy, Hengen, and Henderson ran a record time of 4:09.33 placing third overall. Team two in the event ran a 4.26.63 placing 7th which included Lane, Smith, Olalere, and Green.
